I had so much fun on the Color Mastery blog tour over the last two weeks. Thank you to the bloggers who participated, and to the readers who so enthusiastically bought the book, downloaded the sample chapters, color wheel chart, and homeschool unit study, who watched the Color Mastery videos, listened to Annie’s Smith’s fabulous podcast, left comments, asked me to visit their guilds, stopped by my own blogs, and lots more. Wow, what a fabulous event!

I selected the winners from the blogs that offered a book drawing, and here’s a round up of the lucky quilters:

Donna C. from Annie’s Quilting Stash podcast

Sarah and Ellen from Quilting Gallery

Denise C. from QuiltersBuzz

Congratulations to the lucky winners who I’ve notified by email (so if you didn’t get an email but your name is similar – not this time!). You can get your copy of Color Mastery at your local quilt shop, Amazon, and Atlasbooks.com. And watch for an announcement at the end of this month for a companion product to the book!

Last week I stopped by Michele Foster’s Quilting Gallery blog and premiered my Color Wheel video, offering a giveaway to those who made their own color wheels and sent photos to me. Only two Quilting Gallery readers took advantage of the offer, so guest what girls? You both win!!! Just like on Ellen DeGeneres’ talk show, when she holds a contest, she can’t stand for anyone to lose – me neither. So Sarah and Ellen: you are both lucky winners! Send me your mailing addresses and your personally autographed copies are on their way to you!

See how different the color wheels are? Both are a reflection of their owner’s stash, they used completely different fabrics, but you can see the transition of color around the wheel. Great job and congratulations! You can get your own color wheel chart by clicking on the link in my sidebar.

Day Six of the Color Mastery blog tour finds me at the Harpers’ Homeschool Diary, home of Laurel Harper, prolific Twitter communicator, homeschool mom, PhD candidate, and college professor – oh yes, she quilts too! I homeschooled my own boys for several years, and found the most effective way of teaching them so they would remember, was to incorporate hands-on projects to reinforce whatever concepts we were learning. Quilting is an excellent opportunity, for girls and boys alike, to learn and apply art, mathematics, history, economics, and many other subjects.

If you are a homeschooler and the fine arts are not a strength, Color Mastery can help! And if you have children or grandchildren you would like to teach to quilt, Color Mastery can extend the quilting lessons far beyond just making a quilt.

I’ve developed a ten-page unit study, available here on this website (also under Quick Links in the sidebar), for anyone who would like to use Color Mastery as part of their homeschool curriculum. And I love talking to homeschool groups and teaching quilting classes for homeschoolers! Check out my Workshops page for the classes I teach.

“Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” — Proverbs 22:6
