Day Nine of the Color Mastery Blog Tour finds me at Diane’s Going to Pieces blog.  Diane is a multi-talented lawyer, art quilter, mom, avid reader, and owner of the Art Quilters web ring.  Today Diane reviews the book, and tomorrow we chat about how color is essential for art quilters and the one tool no art quilter should be without.  Don’t miss it!

Day Seven of the Color Mastery blog tour finds me at Kay Mackenzie’s All About Applique blog, where we dish about writing, quilting, and artist’s secrets of achieving outstanding color.  Kay is an author of several books on applique, and has an upcoming book from Martingale on applique to be released next month (ssh – I’m hosting a book launch party for Kay at my blog and it will be loads of fun!).

Day Six of the Color Mastery blog tour finds me at the Harpers’ Homeschool Diary, home of Laurel Harper, prolific Twitter communicator, homeschool mom, PhD candidate, and college professor – oh yes, she quilts too! I homeschooled my own boys for several years, and found the most effective way of teaching them so they would remember, was to incorporate hands-on projects to reinforce whatever concepts we were learning. Quilting is an excellent opportunity, for girls and boys alike, to learn and apply art, mathematics, history, economics, and many other subjects.

If you are a homeschooler and the fine arts are not a strength, Color Mastery can help! And if you have children or grandchildren you would like to teach to quilt, Color Mastery can extend the quilting lessons far beyond just making a quilt.

Day Five of the Color Mastery blog tour includes the premiere of my second video over at Michele Foster’s Quilting Gallery blog.  The Create Your Own Color Wheel video is a great color exercise, and the first I do with my students in class.  Check out the video, the downloadable chart, and the chance to win a copy of Color Mastery by creating your own color wheel with your stash and sending me a photo!  This is the second international stop on the blog tour – Michele’s a Canadian girl and her blog is relatively new but has made a big splash in the quilting community.

Color Mastery has really gone multimedia!  Yesterday I chatted with Annie Smith, of Annie’s Quilting Stash podcast about the book.  Annie has a background in teaching and technical writing, and we had a fabulous discussion about color and how to teach it in a quilting class.  Annie just completed a cross-country tour and has photos and podcasts about it on her blog!  This is one blog you definitely want to subscribe to so you don’t miss any of the great interviews she does.  I download Annie’s podcasts and listen to them while I work out in the mornings, so I get my quilting and exercise fix at the same time!  And if you comment on Annie’s blog you can enter in a contest to win an autographed copy of Color Mastery for your very own.
