Watch as I give Facebook Fan Annette Franklin a color consultation for the Renaissance quilt. Annette won a one-on-one color consultation, and we went to Dragonfly Quilt Shop in Watkinsville, GA to coordinate her color palette. Annette was really excited because she was able to bust her color rut and go beyond her usual color scheme and try out new fabric styles as well. Over at my Quilts and Creativity blog I’ll be talking about some behind-the-scenes details from producing this video.

Amethyst & Mimosa: Fall’s Hottest Colors

Fall 2009’s hottest colors are Mimosa, a yellow-orange selected by Pantone to cheer up consumers in a down economy, and Amethyst, a violet that is showing up everywhere from textiles to apparel to cosmetics. I have so much fun making these videos! Short, quick, and satisfying – just like candy. I took advantage of all the gorgeous light coming in from the windows in my studio and I shot this video today. It’s all about remaking a quilt if you could do it all over again. I call it Extreme Makeover: Quilt Edition. How often do you look at a quilt and say to yourself, “If I had it to do all over again, I would make that quilt so differently.” Well, here’s how you can!

I also teach a class based on this concept, and it’s a blast: it’s like going to a quilt show, as everyone’s quilt and results are different.

Reader Color Wheels from Quilting Gallery – Both Winners!

Last week I stopped by Michele Foster’s Quilting Gallery blog and premiered my Color Wheel video, offering a giveaway to those who made their own color wheels and sent photos to me. Only two Quilting Gallery readers took advantage of the offer, so guest what girls? You both win!!! Color Mastery Video Premieres at Quilting Gallery Blog

Day Five of the Color Mastery blog tour includes the premiere of my second video over at Michele Foster’s Quilting Gallery blog. The Create Your Own Color Wheel video is a great color exercise, and the first I do with my students in class. Check out the video, the downloadable chart, and the chance to win a copy of Color Mastery by creating your own color wheel with your stash and sending me a photo! This is the second international stop on the blog tour – Michele’s a Canadian girl and her blog is relatively new but has made a big splash in the quilting community.
